I got three invites this week.

Duke - These guys interview just about all their applicants. Therefore my application did not really have a role to play. However, Duke perhaps was one of my strongest applications. I really love this school and am excited to be interviewing again.

Wharton - Yipppppeeee!!!...Just the other day, I was cribbing about my failure essay to a friend. But looks like I did a pretty good job there :)... I initially wanted to be a part of the hub interviews. However, now I have settled for an alumni interview - as I am not too keen on traveling to a different city. Moreover, there are no free slots for hub interviews.

Tepper - These guys are quick!! I just turned in my application on 6th Nov and I already have an interview invite. Good stuff!!!

I am still waiting to hear from Darden, Ross & Yale.

Good luck to you all! Whyz tht?... Why has Chicago been left out?

Well, though I really love the school, I somehow just could not do justice to the Chicago Essays. I was not very happy with them. I might think of Chicago in R2, but for the moment, I have decided against applying to the school.

Tepper- has always been on my mind. I again like the school, as a non-techie, I am not too concerned about the diversity bit at Tepper. I really have had to fight with myself to come down to 10 schools.

My School List looks like this :

Round One:

Columbia

Wharton

Chicago GSB

Duke

Darden

Cornell

Yale SOM

Round Two:

Ross

Kellog

Rochester Simon

I have selected these schools based on their goodwill in consulting + finance + entrepreneurship.

I have started writing my essays as well (yaaaay...:D). My first draft for Columbia is almost ready. I just am a little disappointed with my ethical dilemma essay. There somehow is no punch to it. Hopefully that'll start looking better soon.

More Laterz.

Update....

Finally, I have made up my mind. I will not be graduating in 2008.

I have a couple of admits on hand, but in the last few months I took a lot of time to instrospect and well came to the conclusion that as long as I can help it, I do not want to compromise in life. At the moment attending a Bschool is one of the most important things in my life, therefore not compromising there.

Am apping for the session beginning in Fall 2007 :). Most schools that I wanna app, have already come out with their essays & deadlines....Yipppeeeee....Its quite weird, but I am super excited about reapping :D...

Duke (sigh.....I love the school) after being placed on the waitlist for almost 14 weeks, I was dinged. Fortunately I had the oppurtunity to get a feedback on my application. It was pretty good, the adcom member brought up a couple of unexpected things to my notice. Anyway, the feedback went something like this :

GMAT (no brainer really - I hate this awful test :(( , but looks like I need to buck up the score again)

Duke's contribution towards my goals - (In my goals essay, I wrote a lotta gyan on how awesome the school is, mentioned a couple of courses & research centres etc. The adcom member very candidly said, "We know that we are good, we dont need to know that from you, we are more interested to know as to why we are good for U". Till the feedback, I hadnt realised that I had messed this up. So, yea, feedback sessions are pretty awesome, and not all schools do a bad job of it)

They were quite convinced about my goals etc. so yea tht was pretty good.

I am still working on my school list, but hopefully that should be done by mid Aug.

More laterz!!!

Happy apping for Fall 2007.

Arbit writing....

Its been a while since i last blogged...I really have nothing much to say...Works kinda getting to me...The thought of continuing this job, for nother year scares the shit out of me :(( :(( :((...But, doesnt seem like I have much of a choice...

GMAT prep is on..though not as disciplined as I would have liked.

Yesterday was one of my closest frends last day at work...I have been dreading this...I hate it when people go away...YES I AM A SISSY.

I have kinda started working on the apps....Columbias ED is something that I have been thinking of for a couple of weeks now..Some loser on BW forum actually has already submitted his essays (losaaaaaaah losssssssssssah losaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah)...

Attended ISB's info session last weekend...Everything they said is available on their website, so the session did not really bring anything new to moi...the q & a session was good fun..some brightspark wanted to know about the scoring methodology at ISB :D :D...

Thats it from me...more laterz..

I have been Tagged!

Been Tagged for a while now.. Courtesy Anand :).

Am a total fiction only kind of a person...non-fiction reading is kept to the bare minimum....Here is a list of a few books that I have managed to get my hands on :

1. French Lover by Taslima Nasrin - was a okie read..has won a couple of rave reviews by i wouldnt suggest anyboddy to buy the book...there have been a million books or more written on the same lines...its about this bengali chick getting married to this totally ghatti guy and moving to france..and how she overcomes her insecurities blah blah and finally manages to fall in love with a french guy..though the relationship does not last, it gives her courage to discover herself etc etc...I was travelling when I read this book, so this kind of offered some solace (had this madu family sitting beside me, i thought i'd die)

2.Passions Promise by Danielle Steel - i can so imagine everybody going yucccccccccccccck.......when i say Danielle Steel. But, surprise surpise this was quite a nice book..its not the typical book, where the protagnist gets married atleast 5 times, has 10 kids but dies single..Its about this heiress, who pretends to be totally vain, but in reality has a lot of things going for her...Finally, she stops hiding, when she finds the love of her life in a convict...she knows that this wont last for long, as he will have to go away from her..still, they brave it all..yuckkk...i make this book sound horrible..but trust me, its not too bad..

3.The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri - Yet again, this book deals with the immigrant experience, but it is a very well written one...I really like the way she writes...its about this this couple who move to Massachusetts..the husband is greatly inspired by the famous Russian writer Gogol, and ends up naming his son Gogol..It also describes Gogol's growing up years, vacations spent in Calcutta, love affairs, conflicting loyalties etc etc..Last heard, Mira Nair - a famous director in Bollywood, is making a movie on this book...Its a nice read, I would certainly recommend it.

4.Life of a Pi by Yann Martel- Pray..why are such books written?

5.Five Point Someone by chetan bhagat - awesome book. I could relate to this book on so many lines, despite not being an engineer and not having lived away from home..its a must read, try getting your hands on it...Its about 3 guys coming together at a College, with very different backgrounds and personalities..actually, i wont write more on this..i suggest you get urself a copy of it :)

Thats that..I dont think I can tag anybody...Most people I know, have already been tagged..

GMAT prep

I know...I know..I have'nt been regular...Nivi been a lazy girl :(..But i see myself being regular for the next 2 weeks atleast..coz i supposedly have taken 2 weeks off from work to mug for GMAT (i realllllllllly need...that much time)...

Done with basics..am doing okie on most things expect perhaps P & C (i think my mind just blanks out when i see a P & C prob)..damn..i should come over all this in 1 or 2 days...

I am still not too sure on the schools that i want to try...there seem to be just too many of them...lemme see..

Reading Montauk's book..hopefully i'll become einsteins twin by the end of it.

Amidst all this..I managed to watch DDLJ today..it has completed 500 weeks..gosh..thats long...I was in high school when this movie got released and i still remember how me and a bunch of my girl friends had swooned over Shahrukh..lol..those sure were fun daya:).

Sunday.......

This is perhaps my nth attempt at blogging regularly...hopefully i'll see success someday.
